Summer Student: HR & Payroll (4-Month Contract)

This is a full-time, temporary contract role from April/May 2025 until September 2025.

Purpose:

The Summer Student will provide support to our Human Resources and Payroll team. They will play an essential role in supporting the day-to-day operations of Sterling Karamar’s business.

Main Responsibilities and Activities

Human Resources Administration: 

  • Scan various documents and file accordingly.
  • Assist with the electronic filing system for the administration of employee files.  
  • Provide general administrative support to the team as required.
  • Preserve the integrity and compliance with the confidentiality of employee files.
  • Assist the team with any additional employee inquiries regarding online compliance training.
  • Contribute to ongoing Human Resources projects such as onboarding, orientation, employee policy manual update.
  • Assist with data entry in our HRIS (Dayforce).
  • Download payroll registers from Powerpay.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Minimum: High School Degree.
  • Preference: Bachelor’s degree in progress preferably in Human Resources.

Experience:

  • 2 or more years’ experience in an administrative position within the service industry.
  • Preference: experience in Property Management environment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Independent worker, good ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Personable, service oriented
  • Stress tolerance, work well under pressure
  • Standard keyboarding and computer skills, ability to use Excel and Word
  • Motivated to learn more and grow within the position.
